Occupational Therapist
Emilia Pettenon received her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2017 at the Australian Catholic University and is currently registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Emilia has over 5 years of experience working with paediatric clients who have a range of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disabilities, Chromosomal deletions, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) and Dyslexia.
Within her 5 years of experience, Emilia has worked in clinical and school settings, conducting 1:1, withdrawal group and whole class therapy lessons for mainstream and support unit students aged 4 to 18. Through this experience, Emilia developed a passion for working with preschool and school-aged clients who experience difficulties with functional skills required for the classroom and participation in everyday meaningful tasks. This includes difficulties with fine motor, gross motor, coordination, self-care, visual perception and cognitive skills.
Emilia Strives to see children grow, learn, and thrive. She enjoys encouraging, supporting, and equipping children to reach their full potential across all environments, including the home, school, and the community. Emilia uses the child’s motivation and a play-based approach to increase their interaction and level of engagement. Emilia also has experience working within a multidisciplinary team and with Teachers, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Behavioural Optometrists, Psychologists and Behavioural Therapists to provide holistic and client-centred intervention.
